Mechanical Structure
The robotic arm is built by high-strength laser-cut Lexan structural construal components, black anodized aluminum servo motor brackets and custom injection molded components.
Five Hitec HS-422 servo motors drive the motion of the arm. One for the base, two for the shoulder, and one each for the elbow and wrist. An HS-81 is included for the gripper.
Control Systems
A powerful PC based software RIOS (Robotic arm Interactive Operating System) is a Windows program for controlling the L5 and L6 Robotic Arms with our SSC-32 servo controller. It allows you to control the arm from a PC.
The advanced inverse kinematics engine makes positioning the arm easily. This powerful program handles external digital and analog inputs to affect the robot's motion outputs with closed loop feedback control. It works through an I/OGear USB to serial cable.
If stand alone operation is desired, the BASIC code can be generated in RIOS/SSC-32 to control the arm from our Bot Board and Basic Atom or Basic Stamp 2.
Requires the purchase of a programming Starter Pack listed below.
A DB9 Serial Data Cable is included with L5AC-KT.
New 3D image capturing Ability
With the addition of a GP2D12 sensor it is now possible to do experimental 3D image capturing with the latest version of RIOS
