Overview

The storm glass barometer can accurately forecast changes in weather hours in advance. A low level of liquid in the spout indicates “high pressure and fair weather can be expected. A high water level indicateds “bad weather.

Each of the glass spheres is exactly weighted by partially filling the spheres with liquid. As the temperature rises, the clear liquid in the glass cylinder becomes less dense causing the coloured spheres to sink slowly to the bottom.
